Conviction Chronicles blog post #17 - Evidence gathering implemented

This is going to be in an update to the demo, but there won't be as much text for this as most of the content done is backend code, which is more technical and doesn't much more to talk about for the average person. Evidence With evidence gathering, I had to go back to everything to add support for slots to be used to store certain information for the player and each living character. Basically it's a very dynamic way of gathering information and pushing it to the storage whenever possible. Lots of checks to make sure it runs well, and I still need to re-review it later to make sure it's doing every thing of evidence correctly. Evidence is stored between >The Main evidence text >Description for the evidence >The date >tags The date is separate since certain tags, like getting evidence from someone else, uses numbers and storing a date in that same slot can make some errors where code might think a tag of getting evidence from someone else means a date inste...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #16 - Song "Her Eclipse" has released!

Link: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/michaelrichardlannon/her-eclipse What is this? So this is my attempt of making a main theme and sending it to two different vocalists to do work on it. The original idea was to have something darker as a base and then to send it to someone to remix it for refining. The main idea behind the track was to  1. Have female vocals of some kind to represent Bianca. 2. Have some sort of darker themes behind it to set the tone while keeping the lyrics safe for anybody to listen to. 3. Be good to listen to outside of the context for the average music listener. This was more daunting than I thought since I am not good with vocals.  Original Version (Without Vocals) The original version was made to be darker and repetitive to fit a darker tone and story. It was quick to make and featured more instruments used in the game.  First layer of vocals I ended up contacting a vocalist named Mike Dawson to make vocals for the track. He focuse...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #15 - base endings and new scenes

I wanted to get this done before doing any major aspects of the game's trials/investigation so it's all in order, and it's setup where it can easily be expanded and edited if required. Music replacements Some scenes I replaced some music with new ones, mainly with tracks I didn't think were good enough or ones that I thought new ones fit much better. Secrets Every character has one now, but under certain conditions the player can see a cutscene that reveals a little more of the story. Everything is set up so it's not required to do most of these scenes, but they give extra things to look out for and to interact with. I won't go into them too much, but they are meant to give more context for finding certain information out, some are secret flashbacks, and others are different.  I've decided to keep everything relating to the main antagonist as one of the final things to do, as I want to go more out with it. Mole reveal If the player is still alive everybody ...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #14 - Demo Update + Some Minigames

This update adds a bunch of smaller fixes and some major stuff. Might not be done uploading the update once I post this. New music Some areas, like the hospital/library/etc have gotten unique music. Since before they shared the shop theme but now it's a little more unique so each area can hold it's own identity.  New models/environment details This impacts the hospital and the prologue the most where new models and graphics were added to spice them up. Most placeholder 3D models have fully been removed.  The hospital has actual cyrosleep pods instead of beds with monitors overlooking everything, and the Prologue has many more details with an old TV for the screen, a bunch of rusty equipment, open wires, etc. The elevator in the main game being an actual elevator with open/closing doors instead of a door. The biggest was replacing all of the toilet and airvent models with something more detailed/fitting. Some more hidden details were added to the prologue with Tina's room...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #13 - Flashbacks

I'm going to keep from saying spoilers, but I'll go into certain ideas I tried to express with each one. I will say I did try to keep certain characters a certain way and to have certain shared elements in each flashback group of scenes as something subtle. Each character has 3 each and they happen when ending the game either by victory or by death. Agatha - This one is more technical than some other flashbacks and shows her more over time as a teenager to as an adult with her personal growth. Aishia - Mostly focused on the bigger parts of her life which allows the most details to be shown for the game's plot. I added some details for foreshadowing and more here. Cross - This one is more mysterious and I intentionally withheld certain information. This is because some characters have information about them in other character's flashbacks where their selves are more impactful there. Showing certain things with him would spoil the mystery in other flashbacks and concepts...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #12 - Demo is online

Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3908320/Conviction_Chronicles/ Why the delay? I had to make some smaller changes and bug fixes, but another aspect was the Steam Review where I had to remove one of the options that could have been done when someone was sleeping to make the review process faster and to update the content survey to be more specific.  Anything else? I have to send some emails promoting the demo to see where it goes and to see how much traction the demo brings. The main game is currently being worked on, and I would say I'm around 50% done with the main flashbacks at this point. It will be interesting to see where the game goes from here, since before the game wasn't being shown in the Steam Discovery Queue, but once it does start being shown there, it will be interesting to see how much of an impact it has on the overall visibility.

Conviction Chronicles blog post #11 - Steam page online

Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3908320/Conviction_Chronicles/ The demo isn't fully approved yet, but I'm releasing the steam page now so it can start getting traction, and I have no idea how long the review process will be. I don't really want to wait any longer with making the Steam Page, since every delay means less exposure and I don't want to risk it.  Anything else? The demo will go live when it can go live, which is whenever it can eventually.
