Conviction Chronicles blog post #20 - Song "Now I have to say Goodbye" has released

Link: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/michaelrichardlannon/now-i-have-to-say-goodbye I talked to the producer from before to help with some vocals and the general song for this, and it went very well. They did edit some of the lyrics I made to help fit the song more, but overall I like how it came out. The main reason I am getting more than one vocal song is part of revamping the credits instead of what was there before so it's more alive feeling.  This song was inspired a little bit by Kimi ga Kureta Mono which I found it's bittersweetness perfect for a normal default ending in this game. So I have a plan of having two credits songs. One is this song, which is more traditional/emotional where it fits the perspective of the Assistant. The second, which will be done eventually, is darker which follows in line with the player's understanding. The idea is to change the song after a certain point of no return is past where it makes the moment more impactful. In total I plan o...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #19 - Revamped Prologue

This update is a little smaller than the other ones, but it adds a bit. Some aspects are smaller for bug fixes and others are much bigger. The update should be live when this is posted. Branching Paths in the prologue A big criticism for the prologue was the story was too linear in a game that is meant to be extremely dynamic.  So what I did was add actions with an energy system for the prison cell Tina is in, and to add different options based on what fits in the moment. I also tried to make every single part of the cell room usable and impactful after the intro day in some shape or form.  Adding to the start scene and some edits The start scene with the assistant was moved to start when pressing "New Mystery" for the first time. Once the prologue is done, a new scene is showcased making it feel more like a whole package. I also edited it a bit with some aspects to make it a little better with removing some bugs and more. I removed the minigames from the prologue since ...

Conviction Chronicles blog post #18 - Improved Title Screen

This is a smaller blogpost, but it does have enough info to warrant it. New Game Introduction When booting the game for the first time, there is a small introduction for "setting up the game's profile." This is mainly so I can set up biases. This is an idea that Gnosia does where items like what color the player chooses impacts the gameplay in very subtle way with enforcing a starting bias.  This also introduces a character that I have planned out for a couple of months now with some 2D sprites. Their 3D model is in the title screen itself. I don't want to go too in-depth with them, but their design has a bunch of symbolism for their role as an assistant type figure which might come apparent later on. This scene only happens once, you can answer the questions, or actively try to deny answering them which loads the default answers. I might have to move it around or change it up later on, and I do have to add the new bias system in based on the answers.  Title Screen I...
