Conviction Chronicles blog post #19 - Revamped Prologue

This update is a little smaller than the other ones, but it adds a bit. Some aspects are smaller for bug fixes and others are much bigger.

The update should be live when this is posted.

Branching Paths in the prologue

A big criticism for the prologue was the story was too linear in a game that is meant to be extremely dynamic.  So what I did was add actions with an energy system for the prison cell Tina is in, and to add different options based on what fits in the moment.

I also tried to make every single part of the cell room usable and impactful after the intro day in some shape or form.

Adding to the start scene and some edits

The start scene with the assistant was moved to start when pressing "New Mystery" for the first time. Once the prologue is done, a new scene is showcased making it feel more like a whole package. I also edited it a bit with some aspects to make it a little better with removing some bugs and more. I removed the minigames from the prologue since they don't exactly fit with the prologue, even if I wanted to show them off a little. Some aspects are quality of life with the highlighting of certain text.

13 endings

Everything added leads to 12 new endings. The original ending is still there. Some of these endings you have to be heavily specific with your 3 free actions and the trial actions. Others you don't need to do as much. Some choices lead to red hearings while others are more impactful. Others are more subtle with it's information. I do hope this will be great for the demo as it will give more people of a reason to replay the prologue.

Anything else?

I might edit it some more, since most of the original text is still there, but I'll have to move on eventually to investigating/fixing some other bugs and adding a massive dialogue system eventually. It's very important to make the prologue the best it can be, and I hope these additions improve things greatly. The trial images are mostly placeholders still, I'll have to change them sooner than later. There is a lot that still needs to be ironed out a bit, but so far it's going well.
