Why do this now?
So this is going to be the secondary intro song for the game. The main reason I got it now instead of waiting a couple of months is since I was given a discount to do it.
Inspirations
So the song has to be important due to the context. The player is going to get to a certain point of the story where the impact has to be special for a bit. The main idea is that most people are either going to jump right into a new run or actively stop playing for the day. So when they do jump right back in, they are hit with something new that definitely marks the moment of no return.
The song, symbolically, follows the instrumentation of "I'd never be" of being more real sounding as the synths are removed. As it's made to be Indie/Alternative rock. The lyrics have multiple meanings, but it's made to be a rejection of the past self. "Her Eclipse" is Bianca's theme where she is more uptight with her idea of herself. This follows with the mentality of the average player going in with a certain mentality. Once that mentality is broken, there is no reason to have a song about uptightness being front and center.
It's a little on the nose. It's more than just a little. I mean the title says it all from a mentality and figurative standpoint. The lyrics are also on the nose for the player, but for some of the characters, it fits as well.
The album cover also reflects the album covers for "Her Eclipse" and "I'd never be" with simple lines. In many ways, even with the lyrics, it's more upbeat to cause more emotion so the player is emotionally reinvigorated to complete the game every time they boot it up.
Anything else?
Still focusing on the first trial aspects before doing anything else. There won't be an animated intro for this for a very long time, purely since it requires aspects of the main trials that won't be done for months, along with anything else I may want.
