Conviction Chronicles blog post #35 - Redesigned Wake-up call events

Not much time since the last blog post, but I delayed the last one due to needing some final graphics for the night time section.

Investigation theme loader

This loads the investigation theme to be played in the background. This has 6 songs in total with a base of 2.

Sinners Delight plays based on the amount of trials that have happened already relative to the days selected. So if it's near a limit it plays Hollow Steps with it's variations. If not then it sticks with Sinner's delight with it's variations.

It's 2 sets of 3.

If the player is completely innocent and haven't murdered anybody during the game, they get an instrumental version of the song.

If the player has murdered in the game, then they get the vocalized version for increased intensity and involvement with the game.

If 4 or more people have died for the investigation, then a slowed down version with reverb plays to show how major it is.

4 or more people dying can happen naturally through the pool with it being trapped, and if multiple murders happen in one day.

Wakeup calls

I put this on the steam page as a screenshot, but the graphics for this got redesigned to fit with the dream sections and the E&S show.

The start and end of the wakeup call is randomized between a small amount of selections. Mostly so once in a while Bianca/Mr.Cuddles wakes up early/late or forgets their lines for a moment to make it stand out a little more.

Costumes

Mr.Cuddles has 4 poses and has no alternate outfits. He always comes up later on, so he doesn't need as much visually.

Bianca has 7 default poses that are used normally and it selects it randomly.

Under certain motives, Bianca has 11 unique costumes she wears that overrides her default poses. I'll list what motives do this, even though some of them I haven't listed what they do as of yet.

-The Scorch Protocol-

Bianca is dressed up in a swimsuit holding a fan in front of her face.

-Influence Game-

She wears a bunny gas mask and a general apocalyptic outfit that has pink tones to a mostly black cloak.

-The Unmasking-

She wears a maid outfit. I mostly chose this as a joke "as it's always the maid."

-The Blood Mandate-

She dressed up in a pink, stylized military uniform with a side cap.

-The Duel Mandate-

She wears a elegant 1800s pink dress while dancing.

-The Hunter’s Contract-

She wears a "cottage girl" type of dress and cap.

-The Untouchable Writ-

Her outfit is steampunk inspired with overalls with long boots and a mid ranged skirt. Her hair is shortened a bit too.

-The Blackout Hour-

A mostly gothic/E-girl outfit with a skull, ripped leggings, and a bunch of accessories with pink undertones. Has her hair undone. Two bows with skulls on her hair and some leather gloves. The song also changes to a slowed down theme of Bianca's default theme.

-The Audience’s Gaze-

Mostly normal but she does stretches.

-The Triad Verdict-

She wears a pink bunny onesie, mainly since the faction system names would be named off of animals.

-The Last Testament-
A visual kei styled outfit with a microphone as she sings. It fits since this is the one where the extra song plays. If Bianca is not alive, the instrumental version will play slowed down slightly instead of the vocal version.

Motive Dialogue

Motive dialogue doesn't repeat and instead goes through a list randomly for each motive for Bianca/Mr.Cuddles.

Bianca's dialogue has 10 unique options each while Mr.Cuddles has 3. This means Bianca has almost 400 unique lines while Mr.Cuddles has Around 100-130. A big chunk of this was to make Bianca more unique with a more booming personality while Mr.Cuddles is more against the idea of the game. Bianca will try to influence everybody to use the motives to their advantage, and herself sometimes while Mr.Cuddles tries to spin the motives as ways to make everybody get along more.

Some of Bianca's dialogues are more playful references and some playful in general reacting to the motive's impact on the prison.  Mr.Cuddles doesn't react so much where he tries to take control over the situation.

Original Dialogue

I've kept what was originally there as a secondary set that only happens once per game. (one set of dialogue will not repeat twice here) which adds some extra spice. I also didn't want to nuke the dialogue I made last here for this.

 Anything else?

I dealt with the error checking with those dialogues, so it should be all set. I think for now adding onto the motive system is the best thing to focus on before anything else.

Later on once I add more to the backend to the trial setup, I'll go back to add some more dialogue so day after a trial Bianca/Mr.Cuddles can mention certain aspects in passing. It's a little early to start that now as I want certain things done before I figure out how I want it set up.
