Conviction Chronicles blog post #49 - Body Discovery Graphics
This is mostly a replacement to the old system of collecting evidence from a body. Before it would only show the cause of death and then gives the evidence. Now it shows some graphics, playing music to respond to it, along with showing the body discovery when interacting with a corpse for the first time.
Basics
Lots of variations on the body discovery corpses to showcase more details on why they died which helps with the cause of death text. For example if someone died in combat, their corpse will either be bruised up or have blood all over it.
The text takes in consideration who the player is and what relationship they had with the character. Mainly if they were a rival, the player interacted with them at all in their free time, etc.
There are three body discovery themes. One is the default. The second plays when discovering the body of someone the player has romanced. The third is exclusive to Alexis. The default is one of the songs I made at the beginning of development. The second one is going to be more vocalized when showing scenes at the end of a trial if someone is romancing another who is about to be executed. Alexis's body discovery theme is much more twisted than the default, almost as there is an uncertain glee.
Not much more to say outside it took a bit to make sure everything would be displayed correctly due to how many different ways there is to die.
Bug fixes
This is mostly fixing some stuff to make sure corpses show up during investigations, even if it means forcefully moving them at the start of an investigation. Mainly if someone died in the pool, their body wouldn't show up.
Final investigation theme
A new non-vocal investigation theme will play if an investigation happens on the final day. Mostly to fit with the tone of the final reveal if the mole is alive or not the next day.
Anything else?
I think I'm going to add more dialogue variation and such to talking people in the hallways without doing extra events. Right now it's extremely limited which is a problem since the player needs ways to get more tells. The idea is to showcase more things based on the character's stats subtly as a tell to help drive player interactions. It would also make everybody feel more real which is vital.
I'm also replacing the cover art to the game, it's frankly needed to make it easier for people to understand what the game is about at a glance.
